Here we see a straight-on view of the shed. A locomotive is coming out in the middle of the picture, while on the right, another locomotive is pulling a guard’s van into the shed.

This is a photograph taken outside the `New Shed` at Edge Hill Shed. In the centre is an Ex.LMS Class 3F `Jinty` and to the right of the picture is a WD (War Department) `Austerity` class locomotive.
Just inside the `New Shed`,looking at the furthest left hand door of the `New Shed`,can be seen an English Electric Type 4 diesel locomotive - the sign of things to come…
Main Line diesel locomotives were usually stabled in this part of Edge Hill Shed.
