Edge Hill Band Centenary Letter

Resource Type: Image | Posted on 14th May 2014 by Jenny Porter

A letter from Russell Davies, presumingly to ex-members of the Edge Hill Brass Band. Russell Davies was researching the history of Edge Hill BR Brass Band for a booklet that was to be published to coincide with band’s centenary. Russell Davies was a member of the Edge Hill BR Brass Band and the Vice-President during the 1970s. The letter describes how Mr. Davies was asked to complete the task at the AGM of the band held on 19th December 1974. He names Geo Brownbill, Michael Hughes, Joe Hunter, Jim Hale, Norman Jones, Bill Rowlands, Arthur Sadler and Ken Tisley and says they have offered support. He asks for old concert programmes, contest programmes, correspondence or photos and includes a list of the different matters he is researching. He titles the piece ‘100 years of Brass Banding at Edge Hill’. These images are part of an archive of Russell Davies’ notes donated to us by Ken Fretwell.
