This is a photograph taken before September 1960 and shows the train on the up fast line. Resignalling and line transposition took place after this date following the opening of Edge Hill Power Signal Box. The locomotive is an Ex.LMSR `Jubilee` 5X class and looking at the livery of the coaches I would say that this train is bound from Lime Street for the West of England, most likely Plymouth. The `Jubilee` would be replaced by another locomotive at Shrewsbury, probably a former GWR `Castle` class locomotive.
